Exploring architecture

The training for architecture is a big topic.  I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to complete two degrees that were at very different times in my life and in both cases

I’ve studied lots of other things, but nothing so demanding as architecture.

My personal experience of studying architecture was that it was a slow journey through hell, but with enough fun bits and worthwhile goals to hang in there.

I will come back to say more.

I studied architecture at two different universities for 6.5 years over a period of 15.5 years.  I chose architecture because I thought it would be a good combination of art and physics – my two favourite subjects at high school.  I discovered the hard way that it was something very different.  During my studies I always designed organic buildings.  I wanted to make the most of the opportunity.  As public sculpture pieces, organic forms and spaces offer a refreshing change from standard constructs.  I’m interested in how spatial experience can affect the way a person experiences the world and in a way that can help them to be more open.
